Global Missions

National/International ELCA Global Missions

We are a church that believes God is calling us into the world — together. Companion church relationships enrich and deepen our ministries by exposing us to global challenges and perspectives as we seek to work with one another to build up the body of Christ and the world.

The Southern Illinois Synod and Epiphany Lutheran Church work to support the Malagasy Lutheran Church in Madagascar.  In addition, we support Willie and Anne Langdji.  The missionaries serve as ELCA Regional Representatives for Madagascar, West Africa, and Central Africa. Anne focuses on support to health ministries and Willie on development and capacity building. Please see ELCA Global Missions for more information.

God’s Work, Our Hands

“God’s Work. Our Hands” Sunday is held the second Sunday in September. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

Equal Exchange Fair Trade

Epiphany orders coffee, tea, and chocolates from Equal Exchange so that we may purchase these items at fair trade prices.

Fair Trade is a way of doing business that ultimately aims to keep small farmers an active part of the world marketplace and aims to empower consumers to make purchases that support their values. Fair Trade is a set of business practices voluntarily adopted by the producers and buyers of agricultural commodities and hand-made crafts that are designed to advance many economic, social and environmental goals.

Lutheran Immigration and Refuge Service (LIRS)

Hope for the Holiday – Epiphany supports LIRS through regular giving this card writing campaign offering messages of caring to those being held at immigration detention facilities. (logo and link https://www.lirs.org)

Bread for the World

Each fall Bread for the World Sunday is observed by promoting letters and emails to federal legislators in support of funding and initiatives to combat hunger and malnutrition.
